How does region filtering work in Signal?
Last updated: May 11, 2026
When apply a Region filter in the Signal, the filtering done at the NPI level, and NOT at the EIN level.
It is based on where NPIs in the NPI_list have registered as their primary practice addresses.
How regions are determined
The system examines each NPI in the NPI_list to check if the primary practice address is located within your specified region. If the NPI's primary practice address matches your region filter, that record will be included in the results.
Why you might see EINs / entity addresses outside your filtered region
You may notice that some results show entity addresses located outside of your filtered region (for example, filtering for "FL" but seeing addresses in Hawaii). This happens because:
The region filtering is applied to NPIs based on their primary practice addresses
The entity address comes from the EIN associated with the record
An organization's EIN could be headquartered in one state (like Hawaii) while having NPIs with primary practice addresses in your filtered region (like Florida)
This means you'll see records where the practicing providers are located in your target region, even if their parent organization is headquartered elsewhere.
