Kaiser Data Nuances

Overview

When searching for Kaiser rates in Signal, you may encounter situations where no results appear even though you know Kaiser data exists for your search criteria. This is often due to how Kaiser reports their billing class information.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan frequently posts rates with a billing_class value of "both" instead of specifying "professional" or "institutional" separately. This means if you have "Professional" and/or "Institutional" selected in your billing class filter, Kaiser rates marked as "both" will be excluded

The Solution

To ensure you capture all available Kaiser rates:

  1. Navigate to the Advanced Filters panel in Signal

  2. Click on Payer Filters

  3. Under Billing Class, make sure to deselect both "Professional" AND "Institutional"
